Increased Violence in Nigeria Has Driven People Into Niger

UNHCR, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, warned of increasing violence in Nigeria. UNHCR spokesman Babar Bloch said in his statement that 20,000 people have fled Nigeria to Niger only since April, and the majority of them constitutes by women and children. Niger is one of the places where the refugee attracts the most attention in Africa. Niger is home to more than 380,000 refugees and asylum seekers, mostly from Mali and Nigeria, and also serves as shelter for those who have escaped from insecure conditions in Libya.
