On Saturday, one of the major parties of the 2015 peace agreement asked other groups to gather under an umbrella to form a political movement to represent the northern parts of the country.
The call was made by the president of the Azawad Unity High Council (HCUA), who described himself as a multinational politico-military movement called Alghabass Ag Intalla.
At a convention in Kidal, the Secretary-General of the HCUA said: “CMA has been in existence for five years (…) Isn’t it appropriate to give a new life lease?”
